Stamped & Decorative Concrete
Beautiful stamped, stained, and decorative concrete finishes that replicate the look of natural stone, brick, and tile.
Making Life Better In Greater Phoenix & East Valley
Decorative concrete allows you to achieve the high-end look of natural stone, brick, tile, or wood at a fraction of the cost. At Runyon Construction Group, we specialize in stamped, colored, stained, and textured concrete finishes for driveways, patios, pool decks, walkways, and other exterior surfaces throughout Greater Phoenix, the East Valley, and Maricopa and Pinal counties.
Stamped concrete is our most popular decorative option. The process involves pressing textured mats into freshly poured concrete to create patterns that closely replicate natural materials. We offer dozens of stamp patterns including ashlar slate, flagstone, cobblestone, brick herringbone, wood plank, and tile designs. Combined with integral color or color hardener in earth tones, reds, grays, and custom blends, the results are remarkably realistic.
The stamped concrete process requires precise timing and skilled application. After the concrete is poured and screeded to the correct level, we broadcast color hardener across the surface to create the base color. A liquid or powder release agent is then applied to prevent the stamps from sticking and to add a secondary accent color that highlights the texture. Our crews press the stamps into the surface while the concrete is at the right consistency, creating deep, defined patterns. After curing, we wash the surface and apply a high-quality sealer that enhances the color and provides protection against UV fading, staining, and wear.
Colored concrete is another option for homeowners who want a uniform, solid color without the stamped texture. We use integral color mixed throughout the concrete or surface-applied color hardener to achieve consistent, long-lasting color. Popular choices in Arizona include desert sand, terracotta, buff, and warm gray tones that complement Southwestern architecture and desert landscaping.
Stained concrete transforms existing or new concrete surfaces with translucent, variegated color that penetrates the surface. Acid stains react chemically with the concrete to create unique, marbled effects in earth tones, while water-based stains offer a broader color palette including blues, greens, and bold accent colors. Staining is an excellent option for refreshing existing concrete without the cost of removal and replacement.
Exposed aggregate is a decorative technique where the top layer of cement paste is washed away after pouring to reveal the natural beauty of the stone aggregate within the concrete. The result is a textured, slip-resistant surface with visual depth and character. We select decorative aggregate blends that complement your home’s color scheme.
Our decorative concrete work extends to borders, bands, and accent features that add visual interest to standard concrete surfaces. A stamped or colored border around a broom-finished driveway or patio creates an upscale look at a modest additional cost.

Our Work
Concrete Work Services Include:
Stamped Concrete Patterns
We offer dozens of stamp patterns that replicate natural stone, brick, tile, and wood. Popular Arizona choices include ashlar slate, flagstone, cobblestone, and wood plank designs. Each pattern is pressed into fresh concrete with color hardener and release agent for a realistic, dimensional finish.
Colored & Stained Concrete
Integral color, color hardener, and acid or water-based stains allow us to achieve virtually any color for your concrete surfaces. Earth tones, warm reds, cool grays, and custom blends complement Southwestern architecture and desert landscaping for a cohesive outdoor design.
Exposed Aggregate Finishes
Exposed aggregate reveals the natural beauty of the stone within the concrete by washing away the top layer of cement paste. The result is a textured, slip-resistant surface with visual depth and character that works well for driveways, patios, and pool decks.
Concrete Overlays & Coatings
For existing concrete that is structurally sound but cosmetically worn, we apply thin stampable overlays and decorative coatings that create a fresh, new appearance without the cost of removal and replacement. Overlays can be stamped, colored, and textured for a custom look.
Borders & Banding Design
Decorative borders and bands add visual interest and define spaces within larger concrete areas. A stamped or colored border around a standard-finish driveway or patio creates an upscale, custom appearance at a modest additional cost.
Custom Texture & Pattern Work
Beyond standard stamp patterns, we create custom textures and designs including hand-carved scoring, geometric patterns, compass roses, and specialty layouts. These one-of-a-kind details make your concrete surfaces truly unique.
Frequently Asked Questions
Properly installed and sealed stamped concrete lasts 20-25+ years in Arizona. Resealing every 2-3 years protects the color and finish from UV fading and wear. We use premium sealers designed for desert conditions.
Stamped concrete with a non-slip additive in the sealer provides good traction even when wet. For pool decks and areas where slip resistance is critical, we recommend textured patterns and specialized non-slip sealers.
Stamped concrete typically costs $12-$20 per square foot installed, while pavers range from $15-$30+ per square foot. Stamped concrete offers a similar look at lower cost with less maintenance over time.
Stamping must be done during the initial pour when concrete is fresh. For existing concrete, we offer stamped overlays, which apply a thin layer of stampable material over the existing surface for a similar decorative effect.
We offer virtually any color through integral coloring, color hardener, and staining. Earth tones like sandstone, terra cotta, slate gray, and desert tan are most popular in Arizona, but custom colors are available.
